DESCRIPTION:

We’re excited to welcome April Magill and Tim Callahan here to share their knowledge about how to construct with hempcrete, and to share about why hempcrete is such a great building material (in regards to its performance, the agriculture it supports, and the healthy living environment it provides).

Expect to get lots of hands-on experience with mixing the material properly and safely, and then installing it into a movable formwork in a stud-framed wall system. There will also be an opportunity to experiment with natural plasters, which are a great option for creating the final wall surface on a hempcrete-insulated wall.

In addition to the hands-on worksite experience, April and Tim will be presenting more details about hempcrete in a slideshow/Q+A format. Also, Greg and Danielle will lead a tour of the Mud Dauber Campus, to show their demonstration cottages made of cob and straw wall systems.

In addition to our scheduled learning time, there is a wonderful community aspect to our workshops. Wholesome meals are provided each day, which are shared as a group in our community gathering space - including a pizza party dinner at our cob oven on Saturday! Plenty of unscheduled, leisure time is available for relaxing.
